Tea Party With An Electric Shock

Last night I went to a 'tea party' hosted by a second year writing student. I had been to one before and expected: an array of delicious tasties, people I didn't know and a pretty kick ass apartment. All of the expectations were met. Though to varying degrees of success. Food:very successful. People I didn't know: existed, but I didn't talk to many of them. Kick Ass apartment: yes, rocked the extreme like a vandal.
Anyway. The spread included (but was not limited to) a double decker of steamed edamame, brie and crackers with fig jam and a variety of tiny sweet treats.
This is the view east (south east?) from his porch. Last time it was much warmer and we went up to his roof where this becomes an absolutely amazing view of downtown Chicago sans apartment building roofs and trees.
Perhaps the most shocking part of this tea party was when I was led upstairs to investigate a game. The game (see below) consisted of four metal grips all electrically connected to a central red thingy (why am I explaining what it looked like? you can see it below can you not?). Anyways the grips had red buttons. The center had a white button. When the white button was pushed it would light up red and start playing very suspenseful music. The purpose of the game was to press your button as soon as the red light turned green...If you were the last to push your button OR you pushed it before the light turned green a little electric shock would run up the red wire connecting you to the center....and SHOCK you. I purposely got shocked and the best way to describe it is: it's like purposely sticking your finger in an electric socket...you feel a little rattled, your finger tingles for a second and then it's over, I squealed when it happened though...there are also different settings for this machine. I did the wussy one but there's also an EXTREME setting. Very strange and noteworthy.
