Drinks and Snacks c/o Mexican Post

On Friday I went into Center City and met up with two friends from high school. We pretended we all had jobs and were going to happy hour after work...one of them is currently looking for work (that day she had a job interview so she was properly dressed up), the other has some kind of job but not the kind that you need to wear pearls for (she was wearing pearls and an argyle vest), I wasn't all that dressed up but it was pretend so it didn't really matter. We went to Mexican Post. We would have sat outside but it was pretty busy with early Cinco de Mayo festivities...we did, however, sample the complimentary mojitos c/o Cruzan rum. Because they were complimentary they were heavier on the seltzer than the rum or other flavors...but in a refreshing, this isn't even an alcoholic beverage, kind of way. This girl and another next to her were responsible for showing us the proper ratios of sugar to lime juice to what is the herb?
Inside we had their complimentary chips and salsa.
And ordered the minichangas and nachos grande. True Mexican fare it was not. It was as good as you can expect of this sort of establishment.
We ordered real mojitos and they were much better.
It was lovely to see them and hang out on an incredibly nice and warm evening. Funny to think that this could happen far more often in the coming months or years. Though they have lives of their own, so we'll see about frequency etc.

We did a lame office workers Cinco de Mayo lunch thing. Three guys were too scared to venture out of their happy rut and go to a real, well mostly real, taqueria, so we went to not a chain but not inspired either. I did have cheese stuffed poblano peppers that were way better than the usual flat overfried and greasy chile rellenos I sometimes goof up and get. These were just baked a bit, with more gooey cheese on them. Heart attack on a plate. Two of the guys and I idly speculated about a midday margarita, the teetotaler sorta got wiggy, we opted to not.

Too bad. Your mojitos, phase two, sounded good! Vive la revolucion or something or other!
