Udon Soup From Penny's

I tried Penny's Noodle's Udon soup on Monday. Or Thursday. It was too salty. Way too salty. And it's funny what I expect and imagine when I read 'fish cake' and what fish cakes actually are (see I think of tempura battered piece of fish) according to the establisment. The photographs are kind of pretty though.

What are fish cakes?

I occasionally order crab cakes from this Thai place I like and I always forget that they have a very different sense of crab cakes than I do. They're like sticks with crab bits in them, sorta fried, kinda dry.

I believe that Penny's thinks a fish cake is those pink trimmed, spongy slices floating on top of the soup. They are a little rubbery in texture and, I guess, could vaguely taste fishy if you really were paying attention.

I have had to swear off ordering crab cakes from any restaurant, ever. Especially when they say "Maryland crab cakes" because I"m from Maryland and what they're selling is from crapland.

the end.
