Christmas Eve Cheese and Champers

It's a cheese congregation! Just saying 'howdy' to one another while the crackers look on.
There was a lamp full of seashells. My grandmother once made a lamp out of seashells, or I think that's right--that her lamp, unlike this lamp in Delaware, was filled with shells she had found herself. I found myself a few choice stones along the beach.

Idly curious, what makes you think the lamp-filled-with-shells was not filled with "found 'em ourselves" shells? Too many from the warm waters to the far far south? Do they look like resin molds? Too perfect?

I have enough I have found over the years to probably fill a lamp or two, but somehow....anyway, they fill odd bowls and plates and baskets, and at least once a year I wash or dust them. The child found a large-ish horse conch, that was cool. And as a small tot she found a really big orange-innard whelk (conch for those of us who are shell illiterate). They could be lamps their ownselves but I think the addition of an eco friendly swirly bulb would not enhance them.

It has been raining for days and days and days and we have mildewed brains. Hence shell foolishness.
