DCist Has Its Haters
If you live or have ever lived in the DC metropolitan area you might get a kick out of this DCist post. I did, though I don't quite fit into either true camp being a suburban Maryland-ite by birth.

Sweetie, You are not a Marylander-by birth as you were born in the George Washington Hospital in Washington,D.C. Your Mama
well, i was born in Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington D.C.(which doesn't make me a woman, i think)... and then i went to boarding school. but you know all that already. you know, i wouldn't have a problem with baltimore had their baseball team not tried so hard for so long to keep d.c. from getting a team. it's very cute of baltimore to hate d.c. most washingtonians are busy hating real cities.
I went to the odd Orioles game growing up and I took a certain glee in pretending I cared about baseball with a high school chum by the name of Jessica...she liked the Yankees though she was from New Jersey. I guess I had never really thought about confusing Washington for Baltimore or the other way around...but they are close enough that one would think that citizens of one city might just be interested in interesting things in the other.

Your Mama
I knew that, I just thought I'd be called a poser seeing as I only spent those first few days in the district.
