Crabs and Shrimp

After lunch we drove on to Port St Joe and did a little exploring of the driving variety; went down the main street which was mainly deserted (this was not a surprise since it was Memorial Day and all) and past the Piggly Wiggly and on over some bridges and past a chemical factory whose fumes smelled strangely (and not comfortably) of very yucky smoked jerky. We stopped at a little sort of beach right by the big bridge and walked along the shore. Finding many of these little guys…I've never seen so many hermit crabs in their natural element ever in my life. The first time I thought we had lucked out and found a whole spirally shell that I, then, could take home with me and use as some kind of beach talisman…but there was a crab in that and every other whole shell we saw no matter where we went. Well, if not a crab something else.

Then we went to Dockside Cafe hoping to pick up some seafood to cook for dinner. But they weren't that kind of place. So instead we ordered shrimp to go. And they were very good. Very, very good. Excellent, in fact.
