A blog that used to chronicle my Philadelphia eating life, then life working on a sheep farm in the PNW, and now life in rural Virginia.

Music c/o Alec Gross and the Tin Angel
Two weeks back, on a Thursday, I met up with L. and we took the 33 bus to the Tin Angel. My first bus trip in Philly! There we met up with C. and M. to watch their friend J. play music, as well as Alec Gross, also their friend. Alec also went to my high school, but I didn't really know him (a running theme in my Philly high school stories). The venue was small and not overly crowded, the music was good.

M. had these amazing bracelets that she let me play with briefly. Shiny shimmery fun.

Indian Kebab
Dumplings, Eggplant
Another lunch, another day, was Chinese food from a restaurant, the name of which I forget. My coworker C. and I split an order of meat dumplings (C. seemed totally unfamiliar with the concept of dumplings, but she's young so we can forgive her).

I had the eggplant in garlic sauce. I expected more of a bite and a little less viscosity.
The dragon, I learned, has deep seated feelings over the vegetable. Mainly that he loves to look at it but can't stand the way it tastes. Hmmmm.

Hot Chocolate c/o Éclat Chocolate
Months back I received a free sample of hot chocolate on a stick from Éclat Chocolate. There were two. This one had some sort of chili pepper taste to it that was interesting, but not altogether pleasant. It might actually be that I was in the mood for non-fancy hot chocolate. You will also note that I have blue nails in one of the photographs. I did that before seeing Bruce Springsteen.

Interesting idea, hot chocolate on a stick.
Thanks to Eclat Chocolate for the taste.

A Long, Long Time Ago
The weekend before last I went out to the Roxborough/Manayunk area and met up with J. We then went to a local arts fair type thing, where I bought myself a really aweseome print of a painting of a chicken. S. and N. came along, and I have many a picture of barnyard animals and S. in a fire truck, but I'm just trying to put a bit of new content up here before an early morning tomorrow (wedding in the Poconos!).

After the art we had ice cream. I had the non-Dairy Queen equivalent of a blizzard, with Snickers.

A Little Party
Farm Stand Fun Time
Last Wednesday, I think, a coworker or two and I went to the Fairmount Avenue farmer's market. I bought more Concord grapes, because I love them.
And I refrained from buying whoopie pies, though I love them too.
Then, maybe the next day, I ordered a Tandoori fish dish for lunch. It was not as good as I had hoped.

Tea
I'm kind of fascinated by this. It's a weird thing, though, the idea of a see-through teapot. And I wonder if I would like the taste of the tea. Watch the video, it's kind of neat. Just imagine you could have an artistic cup of tea. Artistic? Sculptural?

The dragon, on the other hand, balanced just fine.
