Morning Mountains

My mother's health didn't hold up while I was away, and on Thursday my father called to tell me that it would probably be for the best for me to make my way back south as quickly as possible. I chose to drive instead of fly. I stopped for the night in Wytheville, Virginia. By the next morning Mom was gone. This is what the back of the Ramada parking lot looked like as I left.

I admire your honesty and depth, and your ability to put, here on your blog, your lovely words and thoughts about this incredibly difficult and painful time. I generally cry some after I read your posts. Yep. I couldn't even write in response to your tribute to your mom. We should all be so lucky as to have (or be) a mom like yours or have (or be) a daughter like you.

This is a beautiful photograph. I am not usually very spiritual but I like to think that your mother made this beauty possible from where she went. I am so sorry for your loss and also admire that you are sharing this with us. If you happen to desire to visit NC, we'll be there for a month Dec 9--Jan 12 and would love to see you.

Thanks! Don't know that I'll get down your way, but you're always welcome in Philly.
