First Taste of Beach and Sun
I arrived just a few minutes after my father rolled into town, so we finished bringing things up an into our rental house, which was only a stone's throw away from the path to the beach. The beach itself was up a deceivingly high or low dune...depending where you were in the process of walking up or down it. After settling our things, I took a quick look- see along the beach.
On top of the dune looking down.
This must have been low tide.

I became enamored of the way my summer dress blew in the wind as the waves tickled my toes. I've said it before. I'll say it again. I could be happy just standing in water for long periods of time.

Scribbles
So. I've been sick. I guess it's just a cold. But it's the kind of cold that made it hard for me to breathe, think or enjoy life. This was a great inspiration for me to finally put the patch on my body after having had the box in my life for more than a week. Yesterday was my first day. Last night I had way crazy dreams. Here are the fragmented highlights as I wrote them down in the morning. It was one of those dreams where you would wake up glad that that version of reality and sleep wouldn't come again ... just to find yourself back there when you finally got back to sleep:
high school reunion
the beach
roofied, but no one believing me
dog shit plastic bags around my neck upon awaking
trying to clean off in a stream on a pavement
lemon squares
burger king tacos
losing my tastebuds and my water glass

Clear Lake Dreams
On Friday night I got home rather late, futzed around briefly, then went to bed. I dreamed that I was at a lake with an old friend. We had been to the lake together before, and it had been choked with plant life, algae and mud...but at this point in my dream, it was like a totally new lake. In my dream I kept saying 'I can't believe how clear it has become! It's so much clearer!' It was such a memorable dream I woke up and did a perfunctory google search for dream interpretation. Seems that this clear lake could be a good omen. If you believe in omens. According to my questionable sources:
To dream of clear water, foretells that you will joyfully realize prosperity and pleasure.
I would much rather joyfully realize something than to miserably realize it.
To dream of sailing on a clear and smooth lake, with happy and congenial companions, you will have much happiness, and wealth will meet your demands.
I wasn't sailing as much as standing on a dock but, hey, I have always wanted wealth to meet my demands.
Clarity of Water
No matter what form the water in your dream takes, have a look at its clarity for more insight into the symbol. Muddy water may indicate emotions that are muddled or may mean that your intuition is somehow blocked. Stagnant, algae filled water may indicate feelings of being stuck in some area of your life. Clear water can indicate feelings of serenity and clarity in your emotions.
While I do not feel very serene or clear, I still am going to take what my dreams can give me.

Country Work, Kind Of
My employers were kind enough to allow me to work remotely for the two days of the week I was up in Bucks. So, for a short time, I was kind of living my dream life...only in someone else's house, which meant that it was better designed and decorated, and had more food on its shelves and in its refrigerator. And there were Jack Russel terriers to boot. I set up my office away from the office in the kitchen with a nice view of pretty.
This is Yma.
This first day was ridiculously lovely. I believe it definitely hit sixty degrees, if not more. I was pretty bummed that I couldn't spend more time out in it before the sun came down, but I was, after all, still working.
The pup on the upper right is Pipo. She is a girl dog, but lifts her leg to pee.

Other People's Harvests
I want to run around J.'s garden picking things and stuffing them into my mouth.

House Dreaming For Poor Me
It's happening again, this insatiable desire to picture myself in a different place.
A nice little stream, a few acres, the bathroom looks cute too. I wonder why they don't really show the outside of the house.
This one looks good in the snow and in the sun.
I could finally have my own chicken coop.
If I knew how to fix things, this would be a great deal.
This river bungalow continues to haunt me...this one too.
I'm interested in more southerly locations too...can anyone think of any warmer climed areas with the same beauty of the mid-Hudson Valley...and the same great food culture? Country or small town preferable to city...though being within two hours of a metropolis would have its uses.

Real Estate
The next day I drove over to my parents' friends' house. Over the last number of years J. has been building this house on his own and now it's complete. While I was in Tennessee I found myself watching a lot of the House and Garden television show House Hunters and have continued my obsession with the farfetched idea of owning my own home (student debt, car debt and a general lack of savings makes this something to put on the back burner) and seeing all that J. and D. have done to make their home especially cozy just made my brain explode a little.
They've got themselves a pond, and saw a heron.
Then D. drove us over to her friends' house to show me another possible house. They had done a lot of work to make their house a home and it definitely showed...and then there was the view.
And the lettuce.
And the view.

Two Things
1) Last night I had a dream that was all about work, C and T's wedding, a luggage problems. I don't know if that means I'm going to have a rough day or what.
2) I just realized that I no longer write things on my hand in order to remember them, which makes me wonder if I'm forgetting things.
