I wish I had the patience to edit this into something else. As is, however, it's still pretty funny. N. counting his honey dew, thwarted by S.
A blog that used to chronicle my Philadelphia eating life, then life working on a sheep farm in the PNW, and now life in rural Virginia.

Videos and Posing
So, after dinner, we continued to drink some beers and listen to the music of Mother Mother, the band we would soon go and watch in action. They're Canadian and delightful and awesome. Here, look at their videos and listen to their music. The first song (no video really) is from their first album, the next two are off their second album, and the fourth is a song from their newest album.
Seriously. I can't get enough. Of the music. Of the lyrics. I don't know, it's just right up my alley in a pretty big way.
Of course L. and I had to put our faces on. And since I am me, and she is she, a few photographs were required in the mirror.
Even Fat T. got his close up. Doesn't he look Euro?
Me!
High rollin' in the washroom, as the Canadians would say.

Film, Drinks and Food c/o New Jersey
So, Mr. Ass and his friend M. made a film together based on one of Mr. Ass' paintings. This short film, along with a few more of M.'s and the work of another guy too (who may be slightly more known but whom I found a little, erm, nevermind if you don't have anything nice to say then only hint at it but don't say it outright), was shown at this place on that night. It is one part former grocery store, one part town council/courtroom and one part screening/arty space. Way to be diverse. I believe this is all in Lambertville, NJ.
After the screenings and talks there was a little reception at a nearby gallery. It was tiny and crowded and only had two bottles of wine.
Once Mr. Ass had made the rounds of hellos and how do you dos, we went to another place (the name of which I forget) and had a little dinner and drinks. I had the Caesar salad, which was fine. I also had a gin gimlet, which has now become my go-to drink. Well, my 'I don't feel like beer so I'm going to order one cocktail' drink, at the very least.
Then I asked a drunk rich woman (but a nice one) to take our photograph, but the settings were weird, so we all look slightly dim and blue.
This was the 'let's all make funny faces' shot, except I don't think J. (bottom right) is making a funny face, at least not in comparison to Mr. Ass and K. seeming very excited about something that clearly is making me miserable.

Momentary Obsession
I want to, but I can't stop watching this. I don't find any of these guys overly attractive when I am objective and not hearing them sing. But the minute the man singing really gets going, oh man, I am a goner. This is why I don't go to live shows often. I always end up wondering what I'm doing with my life if I'm not actively making out with a musician all the time. A sad, but true, thought.

My mother loves this video. I love her for loving it.
Also, who knew Supreme Court Decisions could be so amusing.

I'm Gonna Get You!
The other day I was singing a little song, hopping along (as I often do when it's warm and I'm in Tennessee) to the mail box when I saw six deer all hanging out. I withdrew, got my camera and then came back out and chased them away. Do not judge me. I made sure that no more cars were coming and they like to eat my father's garden and a good number of pretty flowers and whatnot. Plus they taste good. Just kidding. Except that I'm not.

So I'm Writing A Novel
So I'm writing a novel. I've been writing it for a while. I think the last time I really mentioned it on the blog I was pleased to find I had 95 pages. Now I'm pleased to have 134 pages. I'm also pleased that I have a bit of a game plan for the novel. I don't know how it's going to end but I know that I'll have a complete rough draft by my birthday (end of November, you are all welcome to send me presents...though I won't be giving out my address so, hmmm, guess no presents for me). Yesterday I wrote this line. It's gross but I kind of like it...my character's taking a walk along a sewage-like creek in Silver Spring, Maryland and she sees a used condom:
"The reservoir tip swelled with a stranger's semen and resembled a surrealist's depiction of a pimple aching to be popped. Did they use it twice?"
Yup. Novel. Writing one. It must be finished.

Because
This happened before Easter. It's a shoddily (well that's a little harsh, let's say spur of the moment) reenactment of a famous sportsfigure's worst moment in the spot light.
