A blog that used to chronicle my Philadelphia eating life, then life working on a sheep farm in the PNW, and now life in rural Virginia.

Fading Flowers
When we brought Mom home from the hospital, she had a few visitors. K. brought a lovely bouquet of flowers. Because live flowers or other plant life could complicate Mom's already severely reduced immune system, we put the vase on the outside of our window, on a ledge so you could see them as you were looking out to the back woods. Those flowers did well for a while, but being outside eventually took its toll. Even still, a few weeks later, there was something pretty about them without their full bloom on display.
I took these photographs the morning that I left Tennessee.
